Help Me Choose a Soothing Sound

No Caffeine if Breastfeeding

This one only applies to Moms who are breastfeeding their babies.  But, it’s an important baby sleep tip nonetheless.

Take a guess at how long caffeine stays in your breastmilk after you’ve had your last sip of latte?

1)  30 minutes
2)  3-4 hours
3)  24 hours
4)  3-4 days

If you guessed 3-4 days, you’re right!  It’s surprising, but studies have show that it’s possible for caffeine to stay in a woman’s system for up to 96 hours after ingesting it.  Considering that you pass everything in your system to your baby through your breastmilk, it’s probably best not to give “junior” a regular dosing of caffeine - if you want it to be easy to put him to sleep.

So if you’re breastfeeding, skip the caffeine.  Have a caffeine free Coke if you must, but the sacrifices you make now in this regard, will pay off tremendously when trying to get your baby to sleep.
