Read a Good Book

Did you know that reading books to babies has been shown to increase their cognitive development, while at the same time laying the foundation for early literacy skills and reading appreciation.  That’s important stuff.  What if I also told you that reading books to your little one at bedtime can help them relax and fall asleep better?  That’s also true.

Ask any Grandma, and they’ll tell you that reading to young babies is a great way to get them to fall asleep.  What’s interesting is that the baby doesn’t even need to understand the words or even be able to see the pictures clearly for this to work.  It seems as if the soothing rhythm of a familiar voice reading words - any words - does the trick and helps babies become sleepy.

So, it doesn’t matter if you read “Goodnight Moon” or “Curious George” - the point is to read to your baby at bedtime for the start of a great soothing ritual that is sure to benefit both of you!
