Nurse Your Baby To Sleep

There are some people who claim that nursing a baby to sleep is a bad idea.  I’m not one of them.  In my experience, nursing a baby to sleep is one of the easiest and best ways to get any baby to relax enough to put them to sleep.

The idea is simple:  You snuggle close to your baby in a darkened room to nurse them - either from a bottle or the breast - and when they are finished eating, with a full belly, they will be more likely to make an easy transition from warm arms to warm bed, and to eventual sleep.  Many babies even fall asleep while nursing, and for these babies, the trick is to gently put them to bed while they are half-awake without waking them too much.  (The act of moving them will almost certainly wake them a little, but if you are careful, they won’t wake up too much.)

So, try it out if your baby is having sleep problems.  You may find that this technique works better than anything else to relax your baby enough so they can gently fall asleep.
